My Take on Marvel Heroes

Marvel Heroes is Gazillion Entertainment's in my opinion answer to........ Well at the moment I have no idea. I do know however that for the time being I am enjoying it until TMNT comes out on the Xbox live marketplace on the 28th of this month. Which is, at the moment, 4 days after the due date of my daughter. Back to Marvel Heroes. Much like you would expect it is a dungeon loot finder, much like Diablo 2. You level up you can choose to upgrade abilities in one of three different categories which of course are all different for every character. There are quite a few to choose from also but at the start you can only choose one of four? You'll have to forgive me as it has been awhile since I started the game. But the four are; Scarlett Witch, Hawkeye, Storm, and the Thing. As you progress you can unlock more through fortune cards which are rare drops from just about anywhere. I'll get to the fortune cards soon. The other way to unlock them is to purchase them. I forgot to mention Marvel Heroes is strictly free to play, it is NOT pay to win. If you want a different character you can either buy them in the store or as of now you can actually use something called Eternity Splinters which are random drops from any mob source. At first I thought that these were completely rare and if you got one you could trade it in for one character and of course I was wrong. In order to use them for a new character you need to gather so many to use on the next character you want to unlock next. For example if you want to unlock Iron Man you need 600 Eternity Splinters. For the "lesser" characters such as Hawkeye 200. I should point out once you choose your character to start you are stuck with that one until you unlock a new one.

That can seem a little steep in terms of wanting to unlock certain characters you like from the Marvel Universe but if you, like me, do not want to pay, then there is your answer. I just realized after a quick proof read I am repeating myself. It is alright keep reading. So pay or collect Eternity Splinters it is up to you. I should mention that when a Eternity Splinter drops there will be a chime to indicate it to you so you do not miss out on it, clever if you ask me.

Much like any dungeon loot finder there is a ton of gear. Most of which that drops is for your character to use. The color of loot is all much the same as other loot crawlers. White is regular, green common, blue uncommon, purple rare, and gold/yellow is legendary. You'll find that you will get more green drops than anything else in game any blues you find, however, can be upgraded through the crafting system to a purple item. Which brings me to the next part of the game; crafting.

Crafting is very different in terms of upgrading. If it is the same in any other game please let me know in the comments section. To upgrade the crafting all you need to do is "donate" items to the crafter and he will level up, max level is 20. Which after level 7 which I am currently at starts to slow down but if you play and donate everything you get that you are not using does go quite quickly. There are also crafting materials that will drop. You must also use those when upgrading your gear. Those materials that drop the most are; enhanced genome, nanotech filament, ionic particle, and astral essence. In turn you upgrade those to form better materials, three of each to be precise. There is a lot do in the crafting and I won't get to heavily into as this blog is already long.

Oh! The fortune cards that drop do one of the following; 1-5 exclusive costume, Iron buddy pet, decorative artifacts, retcon device, Matrix of unbinding, super experience boost, super rarity boost, experience boost, or a rare mystery prize. You can actually acquire these one of three ways; mob drop, cube shards (10, which are acquired through daily mission terminals), or purchase them through the game store.

All in all the game is fun if you are a fan of the Marvel Universe I say give it a try. I barely scraped the surface of the game and can do so if you all want more info. If not look it up do some research.

Thanks and please leave comments either on the blog or Google+ all is appreciated.
